“Zero Absoluto / Absolute Zero”

“Absolute Zero”
I’ve heard of the story of an african man who, trying to get in European territory the “illegal” way, crossed the Strait of Gibraltar swimming. To help, he built a kind of buoy with empty plastic water carafes. When he got on this side, spanish police had him arrested and repatriated. Back in Morocco, he declared that he was now waiting for a good moment to try it all again…
Outside Vila-Flor Palace (Exhibition venue), there are sculptures which go round the building. These sculptures represent Portugal’s kings in dynastic succession, chronologically. The sculptor cautiously left a bunch of empty pedestals to be fulfilled by future kings. Nevertheless, the pedestals are still empty nowadays.
Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature where nothing could be colder (-273 C). Any solid material which get in contact with it immediately converts itself in something that can easily break up.

“Zero Absoluto”: Tomei conhecimento da história de vida de um africano que, tentando entrar de forma dita ilegal em território europeu, atravessou o estreito de Gibraltar a nado. Para ajudar, construiu uma espécie de bóia com garrafões de água vazios. Quando chegou ao lado de cá foi apanhado pela polícia do Estado Espanhol e repatriado.
De volta a Marrocos, afirmava que apenas esperava bom tempo para tentar outra vez…
No Paço de Vila-Flor há uma série de esculturas que envolvem o edifício. Essas esculturas representam os reis de Portugal numa sucessão dinástica, cronológica. O escultor, precavido, deixou uma série de pedestais vazios para serem ocupados por futuros reis. Alguma coisa correu mal (a dinastia filipina, parece ser) e os pedestais estão ainda hoje vazios.
O zero absoluto é a mais baixa temperatura teoricamente possível (c. -273 C). Qualquer material sólido que com ela entre em contacto converte-se em algo quebradiço. Que uma simples queda pode partir em pedaços.
